How We Can Help You

We’re leaders in holistic treatment of pain. We believe in an individually tailored approach for the pain and discomfort.

Trigger Point Dry Needling

Similar to the idea of letting air out of a tyre, Dry needling uses acupuncture needles to stimulate blood flow to areas with poor circulation, tension, stiffness, pain and dysfunction, to help restore range of movement. This modality is specifically used to release muscles without intrusive manipulation in areas of more chronic and acute levels of tenderness, pain and imbalance.

Myofascial Cupping

Myofascial cupping improves the blood flow to the cupped areas and this can speed up healing and ease muscle soreness. Used after strenuous physical exercise, cupping can help to reduce the severity of post-exercise and delayed onset muscle soreness, allowing athletes to train harder for longer.

Applied Musculoskeletal Therapy

Applied Myoskeletal Therapy is a gentle and effective therapy suitable for all ages. It is said that with the right key the door will open easily, and this is the philosophy of Applied Myoskeletal Therapy, believing that the therapist should work with the body, promoting it to heal, instead of forcefully trying to make a change and risk putting the body into stress.

Myo Therapy

As an evidence based rehabilitation treatment for musculoskeletal pain, stress and discomfort, Myotherapy is a form of physical therapy used to treat and prevent soft tissue pain and restricted joint movement. Founded on Western Medicine principles, this hands-on treatment works to heal musculoskeletal structures contributing to pain, dysfunction and an altered state of physical wellbeing.

Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy that was developed by the late Tom Bowen in Geelong, Australia. Sometimes called the homeopathy of bodywork, it utilizes subtle inputs to the body (known as moves), stimulating the body to heal itself, often profoundly. It can provide relief for many types of injuries and other health problems, both acute and chronic, and it does so holistically, via the body's innate healing mechanisms.

Lymphathic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a type of gentle massage which in intended to enbourage the natural drainage of the lumpth from the tissues space body. MLD stimulates the vital functions of the skin, tissues and internal organs but also serves to eliminate cellular waste and stimulate the parasympathetic relaxation response inhibiting muscle tonus and pain. Research has also shown that MLD stimulates the immune system to produce more immunity, a valuable contribution to health.

Consultations

A consultation with Musclefit involves a comprehensive and integrative assessment to identify the underlying causes of the musculoskeletal condition, thus creating an efficient and effective treatment plan specific to the individual. Different modalities may be used to gain the best outcome for the individual client.
The initial treatment includes a thorough health history, assessment of the primary complaint and its contributing factors, followed by a treatment to reduce, eliminate pain symptoms and regain mobility.
Follow up consultations allow for the correction of dysfunctional movement patterns (biomechanics) and poor posture, which contribute to the underlying causes of the primary complaint.
Treatment plans may include rehabilitation exercises which helps to maintain correct alignment and biomechanics. These preventative measures allow for sustained pain free posture, movement patterns, increased mobility, increased muscle power and performance and decreased recovery time.

emily

Hi I'm Emily,

I have always held an interest in health and wellbeing so its no surprise that l ended up studying and working in an industry where l can help others to be the best version of themselves. I was training for my black belt in Tae Kwon Do back in 2003 when l started getting severe sciatica to the point l was unable to perform daily tasks. It was debilitating and frustrating. I tried lots of different modalities but nothing seemed to help. A friend of mine recommended a Myotherapist. (I didn’t even know what a Myotherapist was back then but was desperate to try anything) Within 3 sessions l was completely pain free and back to my training. I was in awe and intrigued with the workings of the body, and so my journey to study Myotherapy began. I was working as a bookkeeper at the time which l was great at but it certainly wasn’t a life passion. I deep dove in my Diploma of Remedial Massage and then followed up with the Advanced Diploma in Myotherapy and discovered my life passion for hands on musculoskeletal work. I am now able to help others through my own experience of pain and dysfunction.
I continue to study and train with highly skilled practitioners in different modalities whom are recognised as the best in the business. I operate with a client centred approach, where the wellbeing of my clients is my highest priority. I treat clinically with a holistic approach and find the two blend beautifully together to deliver a pain-free outcome.

I first met Emily when she attended one of my postgraduate workshops and it was immediately evident to me that her passion and knowledge for this industry resonated with me. It is truly rare to find this in all therapists but it comes as no surprise to me that she was always going to succeed as a practitioner.

She surrounds herself with the knowledge and understanding that sets herself apart from the average. There are small pockets of these therapists around but when found are pure gold!! Take the time to experience the taste of that Gold !!
Emily is truly Awesome at what she does!!!

I have seen Emily regularly as my Myotherapist since early 2011.

Emily has a clear commitment to holistic health and wellness of her clients. This is demonstrated through her thoughtful and deliberative continuous professional development choices to give evolving, optimised treatment.
This was particularly impressive to me as I have worked in the medical education sector for over a decade and was a former executive at the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine.

Emily’s expansive knowledge and passion for helping clients is clear when we discuss research, case management strategies and the intersection of socioeconomic factors on health decisions and behaviours. She has strong insight into people and a deep care of others without it affecting her work performance.

3 months ago, I discovered the reason for the shooting pain in my lower legs. Shin Splints. I was recommended to have massage by a fellow work mate. I had Myotherapy before on my shoulder so looked up Emily for treatment. From day one, as I left after my treatment, my legs felt relieved. I was walking with such ease. My one great passion in life is going out dancing. Hence I hadn’t been for weeks, resting my legs. I have gone back to dancing now and can say that I have 100% no pain after. Can sleep without the terrible shooting pain. And can actually walk fine the next morning. Emily works bloody hard on me. And it’s no picnic either.. Massage, needling, cupping and strapping. I still go weekly for treatment, as it’s a on going issue. But without it, I would be unable to do the thing I love most. Thank you Emily Pratt. Just love coming to you for my treatment, chat and a good laugh. You show the upmost care and compassion and are so thorough with your assessment.
